General Manager  Location: Botswana | Full-time | Relocation required About the Opportunity An established sports betting and iGaming business is looking to appoint a General Manager to lead and develop its operation in Botswana. The business is currently at an early stage of development, with a small local structure and a combination of retail, technology and external operational support. The successful candidate will play a key role in building the foundations of the operation, establishing processes and controls, and driving its growth. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone comfortable working in a developing business and being directly involved in both the strategic and day-to-day operational aspects of the market. The Role As General Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the Botswana operation, combining operational leadership with commercial and business development responsibilities. You will manage the existing operation while building the structure, processes and capabilities required to scale the business across both retail and online iGaming channels. Key Responsibilities Lead the day-to-day operation of the business and oversee the existing retail network. Manage and evaluate the HHT/terminal operation, identifying opportunities for improvement and future expansion. Oversee and develop the online iGaming operation, including sportsbook and casino activities. Lead and develop the local team, establishing clear objectives, processes and accountability. Manage relationships with external agencies, suppliers and partners and ensure effective delivery. Establish and improve operational processes, controls and performance reporting across retail and online operations. Take responsibility for budgets, costs, profitability and P&L. Monitor commercial performance and identify opportunities to grow revenue and improve efficiency. Develop the commercial and operational strategy for the market and identify new growth opportunities. Build a professional and scalable operating structure as the business grows. Work closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure the operation develops effectively and in line with business objectives. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have: Strong experience in sports betting and/or iGaming operations. Practical experience across retail betting and online operations. Good understanding of sportsbook, casino, customer and operational processes. Experience managing teams, suppliers and external partners. Strong commercial understanding, including budgets, profitability and P&L. Experience working within smaller, developing or fast-growth organisations. An entrepreneurial, hands-on and results-oriented approach. The ability to build processes and structure where these are not yet fully established. Strong analytical, decision-making and stakeholder management skills. Experience working in African or emerging betting markets would be advantageous.
