My client is looking for a seasoned specialist in Sportsbook Risk Control Modeling to help shape the core intelligence of their risk engine. In this role, you will design and implement advanced user profiling models, automate risk coefficient assignments, and uncover betting patterns that differentiate recreational players from professionals and syndicates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Risk Profiling & Modeling Roadmap
    Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive modeling strategy for Sportsbook and iGaming user behavior, ensuring robust risk controls that safeguard margin.
  • User Classification & Persona Engineering
    Build sophisticated classification models to segment users into distinct personas (e.g., VIP, Recreational, Bonus Abuser, Professional/Sharp) using granular betting and transactional data.
  • Risk Coefficient Architecture (CCF)
    • Design and deploy predictive models to assign User Risk Control Coefficients (CCF).
    • Automate tiered risk-control actions based on real-time behavioral and financial indicators.
  • Betting Pattern Analysis
    Develop models to detect anomalous behaviors such as arbitrage, syndicate activity, and sharp betting patterns.
  • Production-Ready ML Pipelines
    Architect scalable machine learning pipelines for feature engineering, model training, and real-time risk scoring in production environments.
  • Strategy Optimization
    Translate model outputs into actionable strategies for limit-setting, pricing adjustments, and marketing restrictions, collaborating closely with Trading and Risk teams.

Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Domain Expertise
    Proven experience in Sportsbook Risk Management or Trading Analysis, with a deep understanding of betting markets and risk impact on profitability.
  • Technical Proficiency
    Expert-level skills in Python/R and SQL, with hands-on experience in ML frameworks (XGBoost, LightGBM, or Deep Learning) for classification and anomaly detection.
  • Risk Modeling Experience
    Demonstrated success in building user profiling or propensity models within gambling or high-frequency fintech environments.
  • Business Acumen
    Ability to communicate complex concepts like model drift and precision/recall in terms of NGR impact and turnover to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Background
  • Tier-1 Industry Experience
    Prior experience with leading operators such as FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, Bet365, or Entain.
  • Trading Awareness
    Familiarity with odds compilation and adjustments based on market liabilities and sharp action.
