Senior Accountant / Finance Lead
Location: Detroit, MI (Hybrid - 4 Days On-Site)

They are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant who can take ownership of the company's core accounting operations and become a key member of the finance team.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates should have:
• 6-7+ years of accounting experience (required)
• Proficient QuickBooks experience (required)
• Strong experience processing and managing payroll (preferred)
• Experience overseeing employee benefits administration and coordination (preferred)
• Experience managing 1099 preparation and filings (preferred)
• Full-cycle accounting experience including month-end close and reconciliations • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
• Experience working in a small to mid-sized business environment where ownership and accountability are critical
What You'll Be Responsible For
• Own the general ledger, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close process
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and vendor payments
• Maintain all accounting records and activity within QuickBooks
• Process and/or oversee payroll operations accurately and on time
• Manage employee benefits administration, enrollment support, and vendor coordination
• Prepare and file annual 1099s and maintain contractor payment records
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit card activity, and balance sheet accounts
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Support audit preparation and coordinate documentation requests
• Assist leadership with reporting, variance analysis, budgeting support, and financial insights
• Maintain strong internal controls and support regulatory compliance requirements

The right fit is someone who has personally negotiated PSP contracts, onboarded payment providers, managed payment performance, resolved operational issues, optimized processing costs, and built payment coverage across multiple markets. You should be equally comfortable discussing payment routing logic with product and technology teams as you are negotiating commercial terms with acquirers, gateways, wallet providers, and alternative payment methods.
