This is a strategically important leadership role within a newly evolved Group Compliance function, offering the opportunity to shape regulatory compliance strategy across both retail and digital operations. Operating within a highly regulated and rapidly evolving environment, the successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the business continues to meet its regulatory obligations while supporting sustainable growth and innovation. Reporting directly to the Group Compliance Director, this role carries significant visibility and influence across the organisation, with regular engagement at Executive Committee and Board level, as well as direct interaction with regulators and industry bodies. The Role Leading a team of senior compliance professionals, you will be responsible for the development, oversight and continuous enhancement of the organisation's regulatory compliance framework. Operating as a true second line of defence, you will provide independent oversight, challenge and guidance to first-line business functions, ensuring robust regulatory governance across the business. The role covers both online and retail operations, with a primary focus on the UK regulatory landscape and potential oversight of additional jurisdictions as the business continues to expand. Key Responsibilities Lead the development and implementation of the regulatory compliance strategy and framework across the organisation. Ensure compliance with all applicable gambling regulatory and licensing requirements. Monitor and assess regulatory developments, translating complex requirements into practical business solutions. Provide independent oversight and challenge to operational teams, ensuring effective ownership of regulatory obligations within the first line. Oversee compliance monitoring, management information, key risk indicators and regulatory reporting. Act as a senior escalation point for higher-risk customer decisions and governance matters. Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, industry bodies and external stakeholders. Support executive and Board reporting on regulatory compliance matters. Chair and contribute to key governance committees and forums. Drive a culture of compliance, accountability and ethical conduct across the business. Oversee advertising, marketing and customer communication compliance frameworks. Candidate Profile We are seeking an experienced regulatory compliance leader with a proven track record operating within highly regulated environments. Essential Experience Significant senior-level regulatory compliance experience within gambling, financial services or a similarly regulated sector. Deep understanding of UK gambling regulation, licensing requirements and regulatory expectations. Demonstrable experience operating within a second-line compliance function. Strong leadership experience, including the development and management of senior compliance teams. Experience engaging with regulators and senior external stakeholders. Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to operate credibly at Executive and Board level. Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities. Interest in leveraging emerging technologies, automation and AI to improve compliance effectiveness. Desirable Experience across both digital and retail operations. Exposure to regulatory investigations, remediation programmes or enforcement matters. Relevant compliance, legal or regulatory qualifications. Why Apply? WORKING HOURS Our Clients hours are dictated by the rugby calendar, so you'll need to be happy working a shift pattern that includes early, late and night shifts as well as weekends, to tie in with when live matches take place. ABOUT YOU You will: Hold a strong degree, ideally in a quantitative subject (e.g. maths, statistics, economics, data science or similar). Have strong data analysis skills and a solid grasp of probability and statistics, with the ability to turn data into accurate prices.
