A highly successful iGaming company is experiencing organic growth and looking to hire a Head of Litigation.
Purpose:
Lead and resolve all disputes—civil, regulatory, and criminal—arising from the company’s worldwide betting activities. Protect the group’s licenses, minimise litigation cost, and maintain business continuity.
Core responsibilities will cover;
Litigation strategy
Set global policy for handling lawsuits, arbitration, and regulatory actions.
Build and maintain a litigation risk register covering all key markets.
Case management
Take direct control of high-stakes matters: player claims, supplier disputes, IP infringements, AML investigations, chargebacks, and fraud.
Select, instruct, and evaluate external counsel in each jurisdiction; negotiate fee structures and hold them to budget.
Regulatory defence
Defend licence reviews, enforcement notices, and sanctions
Coordinate document production, witness preparation, and remediation plans.
Alternative dispute resolution
Manage player ADR/ODR processes and ensure time-bound responses to complaints under relevant regulations.
Use mediation and arbitration to close cases quickly when litigation is not cost-effective.
Governance and reporting
Maintain a live dashboard of open cases, exposure, reserves, and legal spend.
Provide monthly updates to the General Counsel and quarterly briefings to the Board.
Pre-emptive risk reduction
Review new products, marketing campaigns, and contracts for litigation triggers.
Train commercial and compliance teams on dispute-avoidance best practice.
Team and budget leadership
Manage a small internal team (paralegal, litigation manager) and the global litigation budget.
Develop playbooks and SOPs for common dispute types.
Required qualifications
Law degree and active licence to practise in at least one major jurisdiction.
10 + years’ post-qualification experience, including 5 + years leading cross-border litigation for a gambling, fintech, or high-risk regulated business.
Track record of defending gaming?licence actions.
Experience managing multi-million-dollar disputes in multiple forums (courts, arbitration centres, ADR bodies).
Solid knowledge of AML, data-protection, consumer-protection, and advertising rules relevant to online betting.
Fluent English; additional European or Asian language is an advantage.
