My client, a multi-award-winning provider of marketing and sports data services is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking IT Manager to lead global IT operations. This role will oversee system administration, Corporate IT, and SaaS management across all regions, ensuring the technology ecosystem supports a high-performing, hybrid & remote workforce. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing the digital workplace by aligning systems, workflows, and integrations that drive efficiency and connectivity. You’ll also leverage AI-driven automation to improve tool interoperability, employee experience, and operational productivity, all while maintaining robust security and reliability. As a key partner to the Project Management Office (PMO) and Cyber Security teams, you will help deliver strategic initiatives and ensure the IT environment scales with the business. Responsibilities: Oversee global system administration, ensuring uptime, performance, and compliance across all IT environments. Manage and optimise SaaS subscriptions, including budgeting, forecasting, and vendor relationship management. Drive systems integration and implement AI-powered automation to improve tool connectivity, reduce manual effort, and enhance efficiency. Lead improvements to the digital workplace, ensuring seamless collaboration and alignment of systems across teams. Oversee Corporate IT across global offices, maintaining secure, reliable, and scalable systems. Partner with Cyber Security to ensure adherence to best practices, risk mitigation, and compliance requirements. Collaborate with the Project Management Office (PMO) to support and deliver group-wide technology projects. Develop and enforce IT standards, processes, and policies to maintain operational consistency and excellence. Identify and evaluate emerging technologies that support business growth and digital transformation. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. 5+ years of progressive experience in IT management, system administration, or infrastructure leadership in a global organisation. Must have experience with both windows & macOS experience. Must have Azure cloud experience.  Proven experience managing SaaS portfolios, systems integrations, and IT budgets. Strong track record of implementing AI automation and integration solutions that enhance workflow efficiency. Experience leading IT operations in a remote-first or hybrid environment. Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, and cybersecurity principles. Demonstrated ability to partner cross-functionally with business, PMO, and Cyber Security teams. The role is hybrid in Malta, Mondays are mandatory Main Responsibilities: Design and evolve scalable, secure, and resilient distributed systems while defining architectural standards and shared components across the platform. Contribute hands-on to key backend projects to ensure alignment between architecture and implementation. Mentor engineering teams on system design, coding practices, and development methodologies. Lead technical initiatives that improve engineering quality, tooling, and efficiency. Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide accurate estimates, and ensure architectural decisions support long-term business and technical goals. Support long-term planning for scalability, performance, observability, and maintainability. Guide teams on production readiness, deployment processes, and operational reliability. Participate in hiring and managing engineering teams while helping define career paths and performance processes. Desired experience: 8+ years in a similar architectural or senior engineering role. Strong backend expertise in Java with the modern Spring ecosystem, relational databases, Docker, and Kubernetes. Proven experience building distributed systems with high scalability, security, and reliability requirements. Hands-on MySQL knowledge, including data modeling and performance tuning. Practical experience with containerized environments, cloud-native infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines. Experience leading or managing engineering teams. Strong system design skills and ability to guide complex architectural decisions. Understanding of software security principles. Experience collaborating with cross-functional and leadership stakeholders. Ability to translate requirements into architectural solutions and provide accurate estimates. Fluent English and strong communication skills.
