The role is on-site in Vancouver.  Key Responsibilities: DevOps Leadership: Champion DevOps principles and best practices across engineering, product, and operations teams. Serve as the organization’s subject matter expert in DevOps. Infrastructure Ownership: Take complete ownership of our AWS infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and cost-efficiency. Manage cloud resources through Infrastructure as Code (IaC). CI/CD Pipelines: Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions (or similar) to streamline build, test, and deployment workflows across multiple environments. Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Lead the adoption and implementation of IaC using AWS CDK to manage infrastructure across all environments. Monitoring & Incident Response: Implement observability tools and establish incident response playbooks to ensure reliability and fast recovery during outages or incidents. Security & Compliance: Collaborate with security teams to ensure infrastructure meets compliance and security best practices, including least-privilege IAM, audit logging, and secrets management. Team Building: Recruit, mentor, and manage a growing DevOps team. Define the team’s charter and help set a vision for scalable infrastructure and deployment practices. What We’re Looking For: Proven experience leading and building DevOps or platform engineering teams in a cloud-first environment. Expert level experience with AWS services, architecture patterns, and cost optimization with a proven track record of supporting high-traffic, real-time web applications.. Expert level experience with Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK and Terraform. Expert Level understanding of GitHub, including GitHub Actions, branching strategies, and secure secret management. Experience designing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines for modern applications (monoliths and microservices). A strong security-first mindset with familiarity in implementing controls for cloud-native applications. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a passion for empowering developers and cross-functional teams. Preferred Skills & Nice-to-Have Experience: At least one of the following skills: Previous Experience with modern backend languages like Rust, Go, or Node. Previous Experience with New Relic and Sentry Previous Experience implementing a DevSecOps Pipeline to ensure Security Best Practices are enforced.
