General Manager, Start-up Sports Betting Exchange, Manila

This is a rare wealth creation opportunity to join a well-funded start-up and be the first key appointment. The start-up has funding from a private equity investor, which is actively supporting the development of the business with the Board. Equity/share options are all negotiable depending upon your proven achievements and record of accomplishment.

As General Manager you will be required to build a centralised operating hub in Manila for technology, customer services, finance, and payments which support the business. The environment is technology-led so experience of operating within a high-volume transactional trading environment, or similar, is useful.

The role is to work closely with a CEO who will often be operating remotely and traveling internationally. Therefore, a proven self-starter with the ability to often work autonomously and independently during the early stages is essential. A flexible attitude to communicate across Global time-zones when required is pre-requisite. Once the team sizes grow, there will be an increasing requirement to co-ordinate functional heads, ensure operational excellence, and provide internal communication.

The client is willing to consider an aspiring leader with excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence. A key aspect of the role will be to form cohesive relationships with investors, senior management, co-workers, suppliers, and the regulator. The role might suit an ambitious ‘rising star’ within an established sports betting operator who is seeking career advancement.


  • Understanding of the P2P Betting Exchange wagering business (i.e. Betfair, CitiBet etc.)
  • The Horse-racing industry
  • Familiarity with TOTE & ADW (Advance-Deposit Wagering) business models
