Business Intelligence Data Engineer

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced data professional to work with the world’s biggest sports, shaping data strategy and analytics alongside a team of leading data specialists.

The role is based in the vibrant heart of London and for a leading sports media company that is growing from strength to strength and is taking the world of data and sports to new heights.


The successful candidate will proactively drive the business data strategy forward through advanced data analytics and have a huge passion for all sports, predominantly Football.

You will need to have vast experience analysing complex database systems, developing/querying data in numerous languages, Extensive knowledge of marketing, advertising and technical tools available, previous experience turning big data into actionable information and then understanding this to make business critical decisions and Proficient with ETL & SQL

The position comes with a high level of responsibility and would suit a candidate who enjoys making a difference working with data to provide the best in class commercial, marketing and customer experience.


Key Responsibilities


  • Assisting the head of BI to develop the data function, implementing cutting edge technology and best practice to shape a brand-new function in a fast-moving sports media company.
  • Architect huge, disparate datasets using relevant technologies to create and maintain data pipelines to enable the following:
    • Commercial understanding of all aspects of customer data (loyalty, behaviour, acquisition and retention)
    • Customer centric insights to understand customer journeys alongside a single customer view providing strategic & real time recommendations
    • Complex reporting and dashboards
    • Advanced / Predictive analytics
    • Machine Learning / AI


The successful candidate will be able to work with whatever tools and tech they believe suits the task, so they will be able to demonstrate proficiencies in the following areas:

  • Integrating big data sources such as Google Analytics 360, Google Ad Manager, other internal & external unstructured and semi structured sources
  • Cloud technologies such as GCP, AWS, Azure
  • Cloud data systems, eg. Google BigQuery, Amazon redshift
  • SQL, R, Python
  • BI tools such as Power BI, Python, SPSS, Qlikview, Tableau
  • Marketing and Ad tech platforms such as DMPs, CDPs, CRM platforms
  • Excel, Google Sheets
  • APIs and XML feeds
