Developer Relations Lead

My client helps people build trust and connection online. Our user data network powers a new generation of apps that run on shared, open, distributed infrastructure. It's an entirely new model for data on the web, putting users in control of their online identity and giving developers a way to build more lightweight, secure and collaborative experiences. We envision a future where data, content and social networks follow users from app to app, letting any developer create fantastic products on this shared platform.

Our suite if APIs let any application manage user profiles, reputation, social content, and other data on the distributed web. Users can view and control their data through our Social Profiles app. All this is live today, and we're just getting started.

Do you

  • Have experience building a developer community and supporting their success with API or other technical products?

  • Get excited by finding ways to make new technology simple to use, and working with world-class developers to solve new problems?

  • Think about how to create a better internet that empowers users, communities and developers rather than large corporations?

  • Want to join an early, dynamic, exceptional team and help us grow our capabilities and company in the coming years?

The role:

For our next phase, we are seeking a Developer Relations Lead to work closely with our developer community, communicating the value of our brand, ensuring highly successful usage of our products among our partners, and facilitating a thriving open source community. Responsibilities will include:

  • Constantly mine for needs, requirements and trends in our developer base to help inform our product team of how we can better serve them

  • Find the right access points for new developers in the space and make sure our brand is one of the first projects they know and use as they build apps

  • Produce content that shows developers the value and ease of using our product

  • Be a trusted point of contact to developers, and help foster a sense of community and open source development

  • Qualify high potential projects and partners and help them get the support they need for successful integrations

  • Over time, develop a comprehensive strategy to grow and catalyze our developer community

  • Put that strategy into action, working with others to make our developer network an extension of our core team

  • Represent our brand at events, in online forums, and within open source communities

  • Communicate product updates and upcoming plans to current and potential customers

You make a great candidate if you...

  • Deeply understand technical concepts and code, and get energy from working closely with developers and solving their problems

  • Have a knack for simplifying complex concepts and technology and making the right point for the current audience

  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively for a wide variety of audiences

  • Have a proven ability to deliver against ambitious goals, and find ways to solve problems as they arise

  • Are efficient with your time, finding ways to create new content while juggling many ongoing collaborations

  • Enjoy explaining and promoting technical solutions almost as much as creating them

  • Understand basic marketing strategies and processes and are constantly seeking to add new skills and tactics

  • Structure your thinking, communication, and work to collaborate effectively with a diverse, distributed team

  • Thrive in fast-changing startup environments, with proven ability to drive results regardless of circumstances

  • Bring energy, positivity, and unique perspectives to our digital-first culture

  • Bonus points for: experience in distributed or database technologies; engineering background; located in New York or Berlin areas; experience at a fast-growth tech startup
