About the job

  • Serve as principal advisor to CEO and management team on all issues associated with lending strategies and credit risk management.

  • Report directly to the Head of Lending management and built a team of Unsecured Lending credit analysts to closely monitor Unsecured Portfolios performance and implement actions to optimize risk-reward outcome.

  • To design and implement unsecured portfolio management strategies that will enable business across the unsecured portfolio to control lending risk, deliver sustainable growth and meet customer needs.

  • Responsible for providing analysis and insight into portfolio performance and its impact on Impairment and wider business performance.

  • Identify and pursue opportunities that mitigate loss (e.g. line decrease) and support business growth (e.g. line increase).

  • Strategically set guidelines and policy relating to the accurate and timely servicing of the loan portfolio.

  • Lead efforts with lending management to develop and implement appropriate lending products and services

  • Developing, monitor and optimize utilization of various credit decision tools such as Credit Scorecards, Segmentation Models, Credit Bureau, Decision Engine etc. for credit assessment, portfolio actions and safeguard portfolio quality to ensure an optimal risk/reward.

  • Ensure overall safety and soundness of loan portfolio, with the ability to identify and develop long term strategies that will include initiatives such as portfolio mix, growth strategies, and market penetration objectives

  • Develop and implement systems, risk controls and policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements, institution policies and risk tolerances

  • Monitor economic & industry developments as well as financial parameters of clients to detect potential risk triggers or signs of stress & taking appropriate steps to mitigate risks.

  • Coordinate with Credit Bureau to oversee and manage the end-to-end bureau process such as data contribution, regular bureau scrub, data integrity check, validation on effectiveness of bureau attributes / scores

To be successful

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience, in business, finance, accounting, or related field

  • At least 5 years of portfolio risk management experience in Unsecured Lending Products with proven track record in team management

  • Demonstrated skill in risk policy development and administration

  • Demonstrated strength in credit, financial, and risk analysis

  • Demonstrated knowledge of consumer lending policies, procedures, regulations, and systems

  • Uses in-depth understanding of technical areas – and broader awareness of other areas, to prepare and analyse credit risk.

  • Experience in managing statistical tools such as credit scorecard and decision engines.

  • Displays a good understanding of more sophisticated credit risk techniques and is able to apply these independently.

  • Self-initiative, good communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills and ability to motivate and influence others, strong sense of compliance and control awareness.
