Overall Purpose of Job:
Our client, is a market leader within the online gaming industry, they are seeking a Design Lead - Social Games, reporting into the Social Games Product Manager, to sit within a new group which is working on building the next generation of social games.

 

Our client is looking for a talented designer to lead visual and interactive design for this new team and who will be involved in all aspects of the designing the user interface for new software products. The role will be involved in developing innovative games in a true start-up environment with one of the fastest growing companies in the online industry. As the first dedicated design hire for this new team, you will help us shape the ideal design process and own the site’s design direction.

Main duties & responsibilities: 

  • Ownership of the end-to-end design process, overall design strategy, and visual design from conceptual design through implementation for new social games products
  • Liaise with Graphic Designers to design and integrate assets that effectively support the overall site design
  • Interface with our core UX team to create useful and usable designs that engage and delight our users.
  • Consult with the developers to implement the design in code
  • Iterate the designs based on the results of testing and the application integration 

Essential Competencies: 

  • Previous experience leading a multi-faceted design function
  • Photoshop / Illustrator / Creative Suite design skills
  • Understanding of the importance of incorporating UX into the design process
  • Experienced with designing for (but not necessarily coding) JavaScript and AJAX interfaces
  • XHTML/CSS/JavaScript experience is a plus
  • Ability to interface with the application developers for the implementation of the design
  • A good communicator, comfortable with interacting with people from all levels and various parts of the business.
  • Flexible attitude towards work and working hours
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Has worked in agile start-up environment
  • Knowledge of gambling and interest in sport a distinct advantage  

Education & Experience: 

  • Educated to Degree level in a design related qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience in production of new design concepts from concept to completion.
  • Experience of online games development
  • Experience of working in social media environment advantageous
