We are recruiting a Senior Production System Administrator for an international gaming client in Costa Rica.
The candidate will manage a range of IT systems with particular focus on VMWare, LAN, WAN, Linux, Windows, and NAS administration.  As a Senior Production System Administrator you will be responsible for building and maintaining local and remote systems and networks, ensuring data integrity and a high level of availability, and, working with other system administrators to accomplish same. 
The ideal candidate will also have experience in distributed systems and be able to design and implement private cloud container technologies to help support the next generation of the application stack.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure a 99.99% update of the production environment
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, administer and tune hosted applications, operating systems, network, and hardware in local and other remote locations as required.
  • Plan and execute installations, upgrades & testing of system/network hardware, hosted applications and third-party software and/or tools
  • Analyze and resolve system problems and outages 
  • Perform system security administration and hardening 
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery strategies 
  • Maintain existing documentation, and ensure that all help desk requests are recorded and tracked in detail 
  • Provide on-call 24x7 support for all hosted Systems/Networks in rotation with other staff
  • Report and coordinate resolution of system/network problems with hosting team and clients.
 
Qualifications
  • Diploma of Technology, Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Several years’ experience administrating a complex IT environment 
  • In-depth knowledge of VMware Server/ESX and Virtual Centre
  • Advanced knowledge of Redhat, Centos, Ubuntu and Windows Operating Systems
  • Expert knowledge of TCP/IP Networks, Routing/Switching/VLAN, JunOS
  • Expert knowledge of Foreman and automated provision
  • Hands on experience with Chef and Ansible configuration management tools  
  • Advanced scripting in Perl, PHP, Shell, SQL, Ruby
  • Configuration and maintenance of Load Balancing and SSL Accelerator platform
  • Administration of DNS (Windows & Bind), DHCP, SMTP, FTP.
  • Working knowledge of Tomcat, Jboss, Terracotta and Apache 
  • Maintain and configure email systems (Postfix, Sendmail, Exchange)
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and configure complex SANS implementation (NetApp)
  • Working knowledge of Nagios/Cacti/SNMP
  • Working knowledge of VPN implementations
  • Administration and working knowledge of MySQL, MSSQL and/or Postgres an asset
  • Familiarity with cryptography tools (e.g. secure shell, OpenSSL, IPSec)
  • Ability to communicate complex subjects to a variety of audiences ranging from management to technical staff 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
  • Proactive, can-do attitude
  • Ideally, speaks English (must) and Spanish
